Elliott C. Hoskins has been in Law Enforcement for 13 years. He has
worked as a Military Police Officer and has spent the pas ten years with
the Durham Sheriff's Office.
Detective Hoskins began his initial gang training while living in San Diego and
after sixteen years, he decided to move his family back to North Carolina,
where he joined the Durham Sheriffs Office. His experience includes work
in the Courts, Criminal Investigation Division, Gang Intelligence Unit, Patrol
and in local schools.
Detective Hoskins helped initiate the Gang Unit within the Sheriff's
Office and is a State Certified Instructor. He shares the responsibility
to train all new Recruits and Detention Officers on the subject of gang awareness.
As a trainer, Detective Hoskins as been responsible for providing
professional development for Durham Public School's new principals and teachers
and has also been called upon to provide training for Warren County, Wake
County, Franklin County, Perkins Police Department, macon County, Harriett
County and numerous others.
Detective Hoskins has also presented at several conferences including
the Ohio Gang Conference, Gastonia Gang Conference, and the North Carolina
Gang Investigators Conference.
As a state certified gang specialists in North Carolina, Detective
Hoskins has also developed customized programs for providing continued education
for Law Enforcement and School Personnel. He has also appeared on the UNC/Cable
Community Show "Black Issues Forum" as a panel speaker on the dangers of gangs.
In addition, Detective Hoskins is an Instructor for a local Baptist
Bible College, a husband, a father of four children, and a Youth Pastor.
